Al Gore Speaks Out in Favor of Single Payer
Al Gore recently spoke out in favor of single-payer universal health care, like the legislation I have drafted, HR 676.
While the presidential campaign has focused attention on universal health care, there are still many who advocate for a solution that looks to insurance companies to fill the void.
Many advocate extending the Congress' coverage plan to the uninsured, or to all Americans. Unfortunately, this federal government plan will not solve the problem of vastly expanding health insurance costs.
We need to get the profit out of health care. Only a single payer plan will achieve this.
My petition for HR 676 and single payer health care has attracted over 13,370 signatures. If you haven't yet shown your support, please sign up today. To share with a friend, click here.

I'll make you a deal...
I'll sign your petition for HR 676, when you sign H.Res. 333, and kick it out of committee and onto the floor of the House for a vote.

I Signed Petition, but Bush will Veto UHC
(if Congress manages to get it passed) just like he vetoed SCHIP. As Rep. Stark pointed out, the Unitary Executive's priority is killing people, not saving their lives. He's just asked Congress for more money to carry out his warmongering, and if history is any guide, Congress will give it to him--so it seems there won't be any money left for UHC. The giant roadblock to UHC, to ending the Iraq war, to restoring our stolen civil liberties, etc-- is....the all powerful Unitary Executive. Congress keeps trying to find ways around the roadblock; unfortunately the only way that UHC or anything else will get done is to remove the roadblock. Sadly, Congress has taken that option "off the table".
Perhaps If Gore Would Run for President
...There would be a chance of passing UHC.
